About

I started singing as a toddler.  One of my earliest memories is running outside after church, swinging on the swingset as high as I could, and singing hymns at the top of my voice.  I have always had a passion to sing praises to God, and for sharing my gifts with other people.  After I learned to play the trumpet, I remember sitting on the porch playing hymns.  Music has always been a major part of my life.  Through Elementary and High School I was in numerous bands, choirs, and musicals.  I participated in many competitions earning top marks in solo and ensemble, and even went to regional and state honors choir as a senior.  During High School I traveled with a traveling  gospel team called Freedom Sings out of what was then Freedom Baptist Academy.  We sang at several different churches.  During college, I was a Vocal and Instrumental Performance Major for two years.  I was involved with two different traveling gospel teams as well.  In college, I was also part of the Chapel Band playing my trumpet.

After college, I got married.  We attended Kentwood Community Church (KCC) where I was involved with special music, praise teams, and helped start and direct the KCC Brass.  During the interim of worship directors, I helped lead worship on a rotating basis for a year.  I then took the position of Worship Director at Banner of Christ Community Church.  The church had to eliminate the position due to the beginning of the economic downturn.  Recently I have been involved with a Southern Gospel Quartet called the Helmsmen.  I was introduced to Southern Gospel Music during college and as part of a quartet at KCC that did a few numbers as special music.

My musical interests are varied.  I like everything, and can even tolerate Country Western.  I consider my Christian Music interests blended.  I have sang everything from Chris Tomlin, David Crowder, and Todd Agnew, to Bill Gaither, Hymns, and of course Southern Gospel.
